The number of hires for the selected timeframe. When compared with Unique Postings, Hires shows how much actual hiring activity there is relative to the amount of posting activity.

A hire is reported by the Quarterly Workforce Indicators when an individual’s Social Security Number appears on a company’s payroll and was not there the quarter before. The QWI program produces a comprehensive tabulation of employment and wage information for workers covered by State unemployment insurance (UI) laws, similar to the QCEW program.
