How often is the data updated?

Overview

Lightcast has several different types of data with different update schedules.

Core LMI

Data from public datasources is released on a regular schedule, based on the particular country and the frequency of release in those countries. These are referred to as dataruns.

  • US: Data is updated quarterly

  • Canada: Data is updated twice per year

  • UK: Data is updated twice per hear

Postings

Postings are updated every day in all geographies. These typically have a 2-3 day lag from when they were first scraped before they are available, fully enriched, in the system.

In reports that include "monthly" counts, postings for the month are typically available around the 4th or 5th of the following month. For example, postings for "April 2023" become available around May 5th.

Profiles

The profile dataset, where available, are updated quarterly. This means that every quarter we release the newest set of roles and skills held by individuals within our profile dataset.

Models

Many aspects of Lightcast data and intelligence is based on "models" that help describe, for example, the relationship between jobs, career pathways, and estimated compensation. These models are rerun once per month, to take into account the most recent data and any changes observed in the market or to corrections to the model.

Data Updates

While the above describes when new data is available, this refers to the specific data itself - the addition of new postings, the observation of new roles in profiles, and new public data releases.

In addition to these, postings and profiles data may change on a more regular basis due to enhancements to our enrichments and understanding of the labor market.
