Overview
The Compatibility Index is a metric used in the Skills Transferability Table and Compatible Occupations Table to measure how compatible two occupations are based on the knowledge, skills, and abilities they require.
This article explains what the Compatibility Index is, how it relates to Skills Transferability, and where it appears across Lightcast products.
The Compatibility Index is scored on a scale of 0-100.
100 indicates occupations with highly similar knowledge, skills, and ability requirements.
0 indicates occupations with little or no similarity in their knowledge, skills, and ability requirements.
The Compatibility Index is a synthetic value generated by a proprietary algorithm that uses O*NET data for the required Levels and Importance of competencies.

The Career Pathways, and Talent Supply by Compensation reports do not use the Compatibility Index, they use the Lightcast Similarity model which differs in methodology.
