Lightcast codes the occupations of postings and profiles in the UK to the UK SOC classification system, to align our data with statistics produced by the Office for National Statistics. The ONS maintains the UK SOC taxonomy and periodically issues updates.
Often these updates are very minor adjustments to definitions or descriptions - They often do not produce breaking changes to any analysis or classification.
Lightcast is moving to update the UK SOC descriptions in line with recent updates by the ONS. These changes will be visible in Lightcast data on June 26th 2026 - Although the changes will not be reflected in UK Analyst until September 2026, with the UK 2026.2 datarun. The updates are very minor adjustments to definitions or descriptions - They will not produce breaking changes to any analysis or classification.
No action is required by UK Analyst users, or users of Lightcast data that draw upon UK SOC data using codes or IDs.
