The data behind College Analyst

IPEDS

  • IPEDS is a system of interrelated surveys conducted annually by the U.S. Department’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

  • IPEDS gathers information from every college, university, technical, and vocational institution that participates in federal student financial aid programs.

CIP Codes

  • The NCES’s standard numerical code for post-secondary courses of study. This provides a taxonomic scheme that supports the accurate tracking and reporting of fields of study and program completion activity.

Report Process

  • Each Report is run by inputting a combination of data points. The user will input a region, program, institution, or a combination of the three and run the report.

  • On the left-hand side of the report, there are a number of filters that can narrow your search. You can also filter by degree (AA, BS, MA, etc), year of program completion, and more. Depending on the report, you can also filter by various diversity metrics.
