Place of Work
Updated over a year ago

Place of Work is a marker to indicate that this country’s primary source of labor market information is gathered via directly from employers rather than the individual themselves. There are two primary methods for governments to procure employment data. One is by requiring businesses to report employment figures and the other is by surveying citizens. This is nuanced but can be significant distinction to the data. Methods that procure the information from places of employment will primarily place those job numbers where the offices are located. This means any sort at home or remote work will not be accurately attributed to the correct market. Methods that procure the information from citizens directly to not give indication of whether they commute outside of that region to go to work.
