Textile production workers sew, join, design, make or alter and operate or tend sewing machines to cut textiles, perform related sewing operations in the manufacture of garment or non-garment products, and the finishing of textiles or synthetic materials such as glass fibers or liquid polymers. Workers construct, decorate, or repair leather and leather-like products, shoes, or shoe parts as well as constructing sets of fabric patterns or layouts. Textile workers also work to make, repair, or replace upholstery for household furniture or transportation vehicles.
This group includes weavers & stitchers and slubber machine & drawing frame operators and excludes "Fabric Menders, Except Garment" (49-9093).
