To request access to this beta, please reach out to your account manager.

Overview

The Layoff Activity section displays workforce reductions reported through state WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) filings.

The Layoff Activity section appears within the “Company Analytics” report and provides company-level visibility into reported layoff activity for the selected date range. When viewed alongside other workforce indicators such as job postings and hiring trends, it offers a more comprehensive understanding of a company’s workforce strategy, stability, and operational direction.

Data for this report is sourced from publicly reported state WARN filings. This report is currently available for US based companies only.

Helps to Understand

This section enables you to answer questions like:

  • Has a company reported any layoff activity through WARN notices?

  • How many layoff notices were reported within a given time period?

  • How many employees were affected?

  • What was the most recent reported layoff?

  • Which occupations were impacted?

  • When were the layoffs formally reported?

How to Generate the Report

1. Open Analyst and select Job Postings from the left-hand menu.

2. Under All Other Job Postings Reports, select Company Analytics.

3. Select the company and click Run to generate the report.

The Layoff Activity section reflects data for the selected company and date

range only. Occupation and region selections do not affect this section.

4. Scroll down to the Layoff Activity (Reported WARN Notices) section. This section appears between the “Workforce” section and the “Employee Drain and Gain” section.

5. Select a different date range from the dropdown below the section heading (default: Last 3 Full Years) to update the report.

  • Past 12 Months – Rolling 12-month period based on the current date

  • Last Full Year (Calendar Year) – January 1 to December 31 of the most recently completed year

  • Last 3 Full Years – The three most recently completed calendar years

Once the time period is selected, the report updates automatically to reflect the chosen range.

What the Report Shows

Key Highlights

The Key Highlights is the summary of the data displayed in the table (see Layoff Events Table below). It is the information that updates dynamically based on the selected company and time period. It helps you understand the following:

  • Total Employees Affected

  • Total Layoff Events

  • Most Recent Reported Layoff Date

Example

  • For the selected Company, if the selected date range is set as Last 3 Full Years, the Key Highlights appear as follows:

“From 2022 to 2024, the company reported 3,199 affected employees across 7 layoff events. The most recent reported layoff was September 8, 2023.”

  • If no events match the selected time period, the following message is displayed:

“No WARN layoff events were reported for the selected company within the chosen time period.”

Layoff Events Table

The table displays up to 50 layoff events (WARN filings) for the selected companies within the selected date range. Events appear in the table based on their Event Date (see Understanding Event Date below).

WARN layoff data is not currently available for Arkansas and Wyoming.

Understanding Event Date

Each layoff event represents a single WARN notice filed by an employer.

The Layoff Events table displays layoff events based on their Event Date, which is a derived date used for filtering and reporting.

It reflects the best available reported date for the layoff event and is determined using the following priority:

  1. Notice Date

  2. Posted Date (if Notice Date is unavailable)

  3. Layoff Date (if neither Notice Date nor Posted Date is available)

An Event Date does not represent:

  • The actual layoff start date (unless Layoff Date is used as a fallback)

  • The publication date of the data

  • The date the platform was updated

If no valid Event Date is available, the layoff event cannot appear when a selected date range is applied.

Sorting

You can sort by:

  • Company Name

  • Notice Date (default: descending; most recent first)

  • Employees Affected

Limitations

  • Layoff events without a valid Event Date cannot appear in this report when a selected date range is used.

  • Availability and completeness of WARN reporting may vary by state.
