Lightcast is introducing postings from key national level sources across Global Data, further improving our geocoding process to better assign postings to the city level and an update to our model for skills classification.
Key Changes
Effective January 16, 2026: Coverage & Geocoding
Expanded Data Coverage: We have integrated several high-priority national-level sources into our Global Data suite to provide a more comprehensive view of the labor market.
Refined Geocoding: Improvements to our geocoding process now allow for more accurate assignment of job postings at the city level.
Effective November 22, 2025: Advanced Skills Classification
Advanced Skills Classification: Lightcast introduced a new skills classification model. This model enhances the accuracy of skill tagging across documents in German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Dutch. With the implementation of the new classification model, users should expect shifts in skill tagging. These changes reflect more accurate results and better alignment with regional language nuances. We anticipate we will be able to introduce this improved methodology to more languages at a later date.

Volume Shifts: You will notice adjustments in total posting counts throughout historical data compared to previous versions.
Trend Consistency: While absolute volumes may shift, year-over-year trend lines remain consistent with previous analyses.
