The Nomenclature of Economic Activities (NACE) is the European classification of business activities. Commonly referred to as an industry taxonomy, the NACE codes are similar to NAICS and SIC, and have a hierarchical structure with 4-levels. There are 21 codes at the broadest (1-digit) level.
Member states within the European Union collect statistics and present them by economic activity on the basis of the NACE codes or a national nomenclature derived from it. More information here.
