Lightcast is introducing an upgraded company database to provide broader company coverage, higher-quality data, and richer organization intelligence across commercial, government, education, and nonprofit entities.
On November 20, 2026, Lightcast Companies will become the default company database. Because this release updates the underlying data structure, it can introduce breaking changes if your integration relies on hardcoded company names or IDs.

Transition Support
To help you transition, we have included temporary companion fields that preserve the legacy taxonomy values.
Action Required
Review your API and Data Share integrations before November 20, 2026, to ensure they support the new taxonomy values in the company and company_name fields.
Temporary Fallback
If you need additional time to update your workflows, temporarily map to the company_v2 and company_name_v2 fields. These fields contain the legacy taxonomy values.
Note: The _v2 fields are provided as a temporary compatibility option and won't be supported indefinitely. We recommend migrating to the new taxonomy as soon as possible.
